Welcome 🙂

I’m Sayidana, a documentary filmmaker with a passion for telling stories that elevate voices often unheard.

As I build my career, I’m focusing on creating narratives that spark empathy, challenge perceptions, and inspire positive change. My journey in filmmaking began as a freelance videographer, where I honed my skills in storytelling. This laid the foundation for my role as an Associate Producer on notable docuseries such as Down in the Valley (STARZ) and Somebody Feed Phil (Netflix), where I helped bring powerful stories to life.

Driven by my belief in the power of storytelling, I founded my own production company, SBD Media, to have a more direct impact on the narratives I tell. One of my proudest projects to date is Ownership, a 3-part short docuseries that highlights the stories of the next generation of Black-owned businesses in New York. I directed and produced the three episodes, collaborating with a talented team of cinematographers, editors, and music supervisors, and premiering a new episode annually during Black History Month.

For me, filmmaking is a way to give people a platform to be seen and heard, to create understanding, and to challenge the status quo.

Outside of film, I’m inspired by all things art and creativity. Whether it’s going to concerts, enjoying a play or musical, wandering around an exhibit, or experimenting with crafts and painting, I find that I’m happiest when I’m exploring different creative outlets.
